Mo Light

Functional Prototype
July 2022 (WIP)
Self-initiated project

Mo Light is a porcelain table lamp inspired by the lamp shade called Chorong of the Chosun (Korea) dynasty. I would like to use porcelain to create a simple lamp that has traditional Korean design heritage while being suitable for the modern lifestyle.
Mo Light is a re-interpretation of Chorong for these days. In Chorong, Hanji, the traditional Korean paper, is used as the diffuser to give a warm glowing light with its simple but pure aesthetic.
As Hanji does, white translucent ceramic also gives a warm feeling with its pure materiality while mini- malizing all the wooden structures of Chorong.
